Hello All,

Let me start by saying Happy New Year and I hope you all had a very productive and enjoyable holiday. Now, on to topic – some of you may know that I watch way to much TV and observe adverts. Lately I’ve noticed the advert for Micro$oft Windows (as if people don’t know that exists already?) – its slogan is “Life without Walls” or words to that effect…does anyone else find that ironic since without walls we’d have no need for windows .

Right, just a quick post to start the day off, its a question really tied to one of my random thoughts.

I was just watching TV and I caught the latest knock off nigel “ad” which prompts you to call anyone who downloads films a knock off nigel, and I got to wondering – what is the purpose of this ad? I mean it doesnt offer any form of deterrent or punishment for committing the offences which it condemns, there is no further information given e.g. no address for a pretty website to visit.

I did however find the website and it is useless in my opinion; it houses very little information on the cause, just a few links to purchase merchandise and play games etc.

I would love to meet the guy who came up with the campaign and ask him what he had in mind for the goal of it. I guess it tries to stress that things like this arent socially acceptable but I highly doubt that any of my friends would care that much if i bought knock off DVDs – my only other theory is that they saw the success of that annoying shielas wheels commercial and decided to make an ad with an annoying song in it to get on the bandwagon.
